#2 Raising a baby for three days
Chael had been flying in and out of the room where Dawn rested with their firstborn pup, the Braixen weakly raises her paw to signal the ghost to stop. The Zorua approaches her and holds the paw, “Hun, you shouldn’t strain yourself… the doc said you should rest…”, he had a worried look, being told that she was very weak during the birth and it had been a few days since she’d been in recovery. Dawn just smiles, the cold feeling of Chael’s paw was something that took time getting used to, but over the time it was something normal for her, “I’m alright… You should also take a break…”, she coughs and groans, feeling a bit faint. The tiny creature whimpered and squeaked in his mother’s arm, barely able to move around the bed sheets without wobbling. “I can’t take a break… for both of you…”, he plants a small kiss on her forehead and goes out to fetch Dawn some water, fruits and twigs.
Chael awoke to the high pitched yipping of the pup, he grumbled that he had to wake up earlier than usual, but the creature needed him, surprised that Dawn was still sleeping he gently cradles the tiny ball of fur and goes to get the feeding bottle, warming up the formula and waits a few moments for it to cool down to let the child to drink it. Short suckling and tiny growls came from the pup, trying to use his tiny paws to grip the bottle, “Heh… Hungry pup ain’t ya…”, he chuckles. After the pup had it’s fill, the Zorua carries him back to the resting Braixen, returning to the kitchen to make her something to eat for when she wakes up.
This time Chael took the turn to sleep with the pup, they both slept belly up with their paws stretched, Dawn was awake and standing, using her personal rod to keep balance, “Heehee… Like father like son…”, she laughs softly and heads to the kitchen to prepare the formula, losing her footing and falling, letting out a yelp that awoke the ghost Zorua, “D-Dawn! A-are you alright honey?!”, he rushed to her aid, the Braixen held her gut and panted, “Y-yeah… I’m alright… Please… Help me up…”, Chael holds her paw as they both rise, “You know the doc said you should stay in bed! Come on, I’ll take things from here.”, he sets her on the bed next to the sleeping pup and goes to the kitchen to make her some breakfast.
At nightfall the three foxes rested, as the two medium sized ones slept soundly, the pup woke up to a strange sound, someone had gotten in and was in the room, since the pup still had his eyes closed and his ears weren’t completely used to sounds, he began to whine, “Shhh… Shhh… There there… You don’t need to worry… You’re no different than me… Nephew…”
